Kanayo O Kanayo To Play First Major Igbo-speaking Role Since 1992

Kanayo O. Kanayo In "Out Of Breath" | Fab.ng

Veteran Nollywood actor Kanayo O. Kanayo will star in “Out of Breath.” This is his first major Igbo-speaking role in a long time! This is a big deal for Kanayo because he became famous for playing Chief Omego in an Igbo-language movie titled “Living in Bondage” way back in the day. Even though he’s starred in tonnes of movies since then, “Out of Breath” will be his first chance to get back to his roots in a big production.

He wrote in a caption for an Instagram post regarding the new film trailer,

Everyone is at home in his dialect. English language remains a borrowed tongue.”

The movie “Out of Breath” is an epic story told in the Igbo language. It’s based on real-life events and promises to be a powerful African tale about bravery and holding onto traditions. Obi Emelonye, who released the trailer on his birthday, March 24th, directed the movie.

“I have planted another legacy tree by cooking something in Igbo,” he posted on Twitter.

“Out of Breath” also stars a bunch of other well-known Nollywood actors. They include Jidekene Achufusi (whom we mentioned earlier), Chidi Mokeme, Queen Nwokoye, and several others.

The movie is special because it’s an epic story told in an indigenous language, Igbo, which isn’t as common in mainstream Nollywood. In recent years, there have been a few other successful epic movies in Yoruba, another Nigerian language. Some of these movies include “Aníkúlápó” and “King of Thieves.” Another Yoruba epic called “Beast of Two Worlds” is actually coming out in theatres on March 29th.

There’s no word yet on exactly when “Out of Breath” will be released in theatres.

Everything To Know About RHO Lagos Season 2 Reunion | Fab.ng

Brace yourselves, Nigerian reality TV enthusiasts! The drama-filled reunion episode for season 2 of “The Real Housewives of Lagos”—RHO Lagos season 2—is finally arriving. Mark your calendars for Wednesday, March 27th, 2024.

According to a press release from Showmax, the date above is when the fireworks are set to begin. Before you settle in with your popcorn, here’s a look at who will (and who won’t) be bringing the heat in person:

The Outs and the Almost-Outs

Actress Iyabo Ojo will be noticeably absent from the reunion festivities. While the exact reason remains under wraps, fans can still expect to see her virtually. Toyin Lawani is confirmed to be making a special Zoom appearance.

The MIA Cast Members

Adding another layer of intrigue are Tania Omotayo and Chioma Ikokwu. Their conspicuous absence from the official trailer has set rumour mills churning. This could be connected to their past criticisms about the show’s editing, which they felt portrayed them in an unfair light.

Will they address these concerns during the reunion, or will their no-show become a major talking point itself? Only time will tell.

Buckle Up for Drama

The trailer itself offers a glimpse of what promises to be an explosive episode. We see Laura Ikeji taking centre stage in a heated confrontation with Dr. Rommel. This hints that unresolved issues and past conflicts will be right at the forefront of the reunion.

So get ready for a tell-all showdown as the Lagos housewives revisit the season’s most talked-about moments, settle scores, and perhaps even mend fences (or create new ones). This is definitely a reunion you won’t want to miss!

Journalist Latasha Ngwube will host the event. According to the statement,

Latasha will guide viewers through an interesting reunion, promising plenty of drama, surprises, and candid conversations with the cast.”

Latasha said,

I’m delighted to dive into the fabulous world of excitement and drama these ladies have created.”

As the first woman to ever host The Real Housewives reunion in Africa and as a huge fan of the show, getting to discuss some of my favourite moments and ask those burning questions thrills me. Expect it all! Big fashion! Laughter and emotions as we unpack the glamour, drama, and everything in an unforgettable season two.”

In season 2 of the show, two new Housewives, fashion entrepreneur Tania Omotayo and former model and socialite Faith Morey, were introduced to the original cast. This cast comprised Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo, stylist Toyin Lawani Adebayo, businesswomen Chioma Ikokwu, Laura Ikeji-Kanu, and Mariam Timmer.

Busola Tejumola, Executive Head of Content and West Africa Channels at MultiChoice explained the selection of Latasha as the host for the RHO Lagos Season 2 reunion:

“Latasha has been a pillar of Nigerian pop culture for many years now, making her the perfect host to spark engaging conversations among the ladies. With her vibrant energy and insightful approach, this reunion is set to be unforgettable.”

The statement adds that,

In this reunion episode, fans will get to see the ladies get together to discuss the highs and lows that defined RHO Lagos Season 2. The reunion will also provide a platform for the Housewives to address rumours, clarify misconceptions, and express their unfiltered feelings about their fellow cast members.

Season 2 of The Real Housewives of Lagos was nominated for the Best Unscripted Series award at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards. But that’s not all! You can finally see the reunion episode, where all the drama unfolds.

It premieres exclusively on Showmax on Wednesday, March 27th, 2024. In case you missed it, all 12 episodes of season 2 are also available to watch on Showmax.
