Creating Needful Quiet Moments.

Creating Needful Quiet Moments.

One important element of good living and a healthy lifestyle is having a clear mind. For some, it is impossible to have that due to hectic days now and ahead. A busy mind filled with one thought to another gives rise to difficult thinking, digestion problem, emotional reactions, anger and restless nights. A vivid explanation for describing an unclear and disturbing mind is just like an ocean with its waves and ripples going up and down without being calm.  But through a peaceful ocean, we can see the bottom clearly as opposed to the other.

This relates to our mind because if it is calm, we can see what our lives is all about. Through this we can understand ourselves better and make time for quite moments. Quieting the mind is an awesome process. It is like switching off the Television set and everything connected to it. Every day, we are bombarded with disturbance from our friends, school mates, our employers or employees, children, spouse, partners etc. Even during our waking hours, we have so much going on in our minds like the traffic to meet ahead, the work schedule, lectures and many more.

Literally, we live in a modern world where there is distress. One way or the other, we have all experienced something like the sound of a running generator when producing light. Although we are accustomed to the sound, but once it is turned off, we experience the relief of quietness. This happens to us each day, but the time we actually have that quiet moment and relief is when we are asleep.

The quiet moment can actually be experienced each day. It could be an interval that refreshes, strengthens, and renews our minds. A lot of people believe it is impossible as a result of daily activities and deadlines. This can simply be done for few minutes before embarking on your daily activities. Simply sit comfortably in a chair, cross your leg if possible or place them on the floor, or sit directly on the floor with your legs crossed as well. Place your hands on your lap and shut your eyes and breathe in and out gently. Doing this is usually a process because you can’t automatically have a quiet moment like that, your mind still does its routine of reminding you stuffs before it shuts down. With this you must be patient rather than forcing it to shut itself. When it constantly reminds you of something to think about, tell it ‘Not now’ and focus on breathing in and out. Repeating this for few minutes will help you cleanse your mind. If you have hatred, jealousy, tension, anger, frustration and sadness in your mind, breathe it out and breathe in love, comfort, peace and energy. It is a good process of living a good lifestyle.

As you practice this technique, your mind becomes gentle and there’s room for your brain to rest and heal itself. Start with 5- 10 minutes daily, before increasing to higher minutes. Quiet moments will help you live a healthy, innovative, creative, and productive lifestyle.

Thinking About Getting A Piercing? Here’s What You Need To Know

Piercings: Here's What You Need To Know | Fab.ng

Piercings are a great way to express yourself and add a touch of individuality to your look. But before you leap, it’s important to understand the risks and aftercare involved.

Different areas of the body have varying levels of sensitivity and blood flow, which can affect healing time and the likelihood of complications. Here’s a breakdown of some popular piercing locations to consider:

1. Genital piercings

While these piercings can be aesthetically pleasing, they come with a higher risk of infection due to the warm, moist environment of the genital area.

Healing can be slow and uncomfortable, and everyday activities like exercise can irritate. Because of their sensitive location, meticulous aftercare is essential to prevent complications.

2. Oral piercings (tongue, lip, and cheek)

These piercings can add a touch of edge to your smile, but they can also irritate your gums, leading to gum recession or bleeding. They can also be a hazard to your teeth, causing chips, cracks, or loose teeth to accidentally bite down on the jewellery.

Speech impediments and difficulty eating are also common, especially during the initial healing period. Tongue piercing in particular can damage nerves in your tongue, resulting in permanent numbness or tingling.

3. Nipple piercings

Nipple piercing can be quite painful to heal due to the delicate nature of the tissue. There’s also a possibility of keloid scars forming, which are raised bumps of scar tissue.

If you plan on breastfeeding in the future, nipple piercings can interfere with milk flow or latching.

4. Surface piercings (neck, sternum, hip)

Because these areas move a lot throughout the day with everyday activities like walking or bending over, your body might reject the piercing or push it out (migration).

This constant movement can also irritate the piercing site, increasing the risk of infection. Extra care is needed to keep these piercings clean and avoid complications.

5. Dermal piercings (chest, back)

Similar to surface piercing, this piercing sits under the skin rather than going all the way through. This makes them more prone to migration or rejection. They’re also more likely to get infected because they’re implanted under a layer of skin, where bacteria can become trapped.

6. Cartilage piercings (upper ear)

Cartilage is a tough tissue with less blood flow than other areas of the body. This means cartilage piercings take longer to heal and are more susceptible to infection.

They can also leave keloid scars. Because cartilage doesn’t get as much blood to fight off infection, careful aftercare is crucial for these piercings.

7. Bridge piercings (nose)

The bridge of the nose is a delicate area with limited blood flow, making it prone to infection, scarring, and migration of the piercing. There’s also a risk of affecting the sinuses if the piercing is placed too close, leading to irritation and congestion.

8. Navel piercings

Navel piercing is a popular choice but can get infected or migrate easily, especially if your clothes rub against them constantly. Keeping your navel piercing clean and dry is essential to preventing infection. Avoid swimming or soaking in pools or tubs for extended periods while your piercing heals.

9. Conch piercings (inner ear)

Located in the inner portion of the ear, conch piercings can heal slowly due to the limited blood flow in the area. This also makes them more susceptible to infection. Proper aftercare is crucial for these piercings to prevent complications.

No matter where you decide to get pierced, it’s important to do your research. Find a reputable, licenced piercer who uses sterile equipment and follows safe piercing practices. Ask questions about the aftercare process and follow their instructions carefully. Taking good care of your piercing will minimise the risk of complications and ensure it heals properly.

How To Smell Good All The Time

Body Odour: How To Smell Good All The Time | Fab.ng

As the saying goes, smelling good is important for leaving a positive impression. It’s essential to be mindful of your body odour and invest in products that help you maintain a pleasant scent. Taking care of your hygiene ensures that you feel confident and comfortable in social situations. No one wants to feel embarrassed by unpleasant body odour when interacting with others.

Even if you start your day feeling fresh and clean, it’s common for your scent to fade as the day goes on. Fortunately, there are simple steps you can take to ensure you smell great throughout the day. Following these steps will help you maintain a pleasant fragrance and boost your confidence in any situation.

1. Wash the sweatiest parts of your body

Showering regularly is a must for staying fresh. When you wash, use scented soap and a sponge to clean your entire body thoroughly.

Focus on the sweat zones! These areas have more sweat glands, which can mix with bacteria on your skin and cause odour. Pay special attention to your armpits, groin area, inner thighs, and feet. Don’t forget other important areas like your chest, ears, genitals, and buttocks.

If you have sensitive skin, avoid harsh soaps with strong perfumes or antibacterial ingredients. These can irritate your skin.

2. Moisturise skin with scented lotion or cream

Lotion can be your secret weapon for long-lasting fragrance.

After you shower, your skin is clean and slightly damp. This moistness acts like a base that helps trap scents and keeps them lingering longer. Apply a scented lotion right after towelling off to lock in that fresh, clean feeling and your favourite scent. Lotions come in a wide variety of scents, so you can find one that complements your perfume or cologne.

Think about your perfume or cologne as the star of the show, and other scented products like lotion as supporting actors. Choosing a lotion or cream from the same brand as your perfume or cologne creates a layered effect. This layering reinforces your overall scent and makes it more complex and interesting than a single overpowering note.

While smelling good is important, it’s easy to go overboard. Too many competing scents can be overwhelming and unpleasant for both you and those around you. Consider using mostly unscented products for things like deodorant, hairspray, and lip balm.

This allows you to focus on one or two main scents—your lotion and perfume—which will create a more balanced and pleasant overall fragrance. Think of it like building an outfit—you wouldn’t wear clashing prints or colours from head to toe, and the same goes for scents!

3. Make your perfume or cologne last

To make your fragrance last all day, target your pulse points and torso. These areas naturally generate more body heat, which helps activate and release the scent throughout the day. Here’s how to apply:

  • Skip the rubbing: After applying lotion, gently dab your perfume or cologne on your wrists, neck, and even behind your ears. Rubbing these areas can break down the fragrance molecules, making the scent weaker.

  • Move down to your torso: For a more subtle but long-lasting effect, lightly spray a small amount of perfume or cologne on your chest and back.

  • Extend the fragrance to your hair: Spritz your hairbrush with your favourite perfume before brushing your dry hair. This will gently distribute the scent without weighing down your locks.

  • Less is more: Remember, a little perfume goes a long way. Avoid overdoing it; too much fragrance can be overwhelming. By applying strategically and in moderation, you’ll ensure you smell pleasant all day without being overpowering.

4. Use a deodorant or antiperspirant

After showering, apply deodorant to your armpits to combat odour and minimise sweat, especially since armpits tend to develop odour faster due to numerous sweat glands. Antiperspirant deodorants work effectively to mask unpleasant smells and regulate sweat production. If you engage in physical activities that induce sweating, reapply deodorant as necessary to maintain freshness.

Deodorants are available in various forms, such as solid sticks, gel sticks, or sprays. Additionally, you have the option to opt for natural alternatives like rock deodorant or create your own using baking soda and coconut oil.

Consider using unscented deodorant if you intend to use perfumes or scented lotions to avoid overwhelming your senses with too many fragrances.

5. Put on clean clothes every day

Always wear fresh clothes each day, including a clean shirt, pants, underwear, bra, and socks, to ensure you maintain a pleasant scent throughout the day.

Changing into clean clothes helps prevent any lingering odours and keeps you feeling comfortable. If you tend to have sweaty or smelly feet, consider changing your socks multiple times throughout the day to maintain freshness and avoid discomfort.

6. Stay hydrated during the day

Staying hydrated is a double win for freshness. Drinking plenty of water throughout the day helps your body flush out toxins and sweat, which can contribute to body odour. Water also keeps your mouth moist, preventing bad breath caused by dryness or lingering food particles.

If you’re worried about strong food smells like coffee or garlic, drinking water helps dilute them in your mouth, leaving you feeling minty and fresh.

Make a habit of drinking at least eight glasses of water daily. This keeps you hydrated, promotes overall health, and helps you stay fresh from head to toe.

7. Eat plenty of fruits and veggies

Fruits and vegetables are packed with nutrients that help your body function at its best, and that includes keeping you smelling good. They also promote healthy digestion, which can further contribute to freshness.

Be mindful of strong-smelling foods. While garlic, onions, and spices are delicious and healthy, they can leave behind lingering odours on your breath and even slightly alter your body scent. If you’re worried about staying fresh throughout the day, it might be wise to limit these foods on those specific occasions.

Fruits and vegetables that are high in water content, like watermelon, cucumber, and celery, can help flush out toxins that contribute to body odour. So fill your plate with these cleansing options to support your freshness goals!
